The Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, an Emirati university operating under the direction of the Abu Dhabi Education Council(ADEC) was established in 2006, following the agreement signed between Paris-Sorbonne University and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The same professors teach the same courses while the same diplomas are granted to the students. In order to ensure the perfect alignment of the courses and the diploma, the teaching language for the bachelor courses is French, whether in the United Arab Emirate or Paris.
The intensive training in French provides the students with access to the University.
In fact, students who enroll in Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi do not necessarily speak French. Non-francophone students are numerous: some Emiratis, others natives from different Gulf countries; and they are all welcome at the Department of French Language. Intensive courses in French will allow them in the period of one year, to speak the language fluently and reach a level that allows them to follow a curriculum in French. At the end of the year, they sit for a University Diploma delivered by Paris-Sorbonne University and recognized in the rest of the world, which allows them to enroll in the bachelor’s degree.
The programme of studying French falls in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CECR), as it follows a strict progression. It is delivered by a team of highly qualified professors, recruited by a committee of specialists in Paris in accordance with the criteria of Paris-Sorbonne University and who are specialized in teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE).
