Conference hosted by Rector Gérard-François Dumont.
Since the turn of the century, China has emerged as a formidable power because of its robust economic growth. Its privileged position has been a result of state capitalism governed by a single party, its advancement in Africa where it hopes to take advantage of the considerable potential, and also for entering the spatial race or its rising military power.
In this context, China has become a dominating force with widespread influence that even the French evening daily, Le Monde, did not hesitate to title one of its supplements “The Chinese Century” without a question. Is the future balance of power in the 21st century already written? Will China, which is increasingly taking its place among the nations, develop an Achilles heel? Nothing is certain.
The conference will be held in French.
