Mastering French in a year-time at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi

Description

Full Description

Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (PSUAD) has proved for the third year that with the highly qualified faculty, a distinguished curriculum, and an encouraging environment, students could master the French language in a year time. The graduation of students from PSUAD’s Intensive French Program (FLE) came to prove the coalition of the university’s vision and achievements.

Forty-Three students graduated from the Intensive French Program this year, ready to enroll in the Academic Programs that start end of this September. These students had little or no background of the French language before enrolling in this program.

The high level of specialized faculty contributed to the progress of students, according to Rawdha Al Meraikhi from UAE: “The teachers at Sorbonne are very helpful; they are skilled at making you love the language. The extra-curriculum is tough however; it did push us to improve our French”.

Abdul Rahman Al Qubaisi from UAE had little background of the language when he joined PSUAD. Al Qubaisi believes it is the support of teachers that helped him excel, as they evaluated his level and continued to assess his progress and provide help along the way.

Maria Rahis, from Syria, believes that just as supportive teachers are; students ought to cooperate from their end through reading French books, engaging in French media –music, movies, etc – and interacting with this culture to master the language in its genuine context.

Olivas Montero Carolina, from Costa Rica has graduated from the FLE and registered in the Licence in Business and Languages, driven by a firm belief that today’s business, geared with mastery of languages, opens doors of opportunities.

All of the students have indicated that their choice of Sorbonne comes to serve the will to be distinguished, and attain excellence. They have chosen to “live the Sorbonne dream”, as Al Meraikhi stated, “… on the Emirati land capturing an opportunity of international recognition and prestigious career options”.

These students will be granted a University Diploma from the Sorbonne, officially validated in France, with further access to the Sorbonne BA and Master’s Degree courses.  At the end of the FLE studies, students would be fluent in the French language, which will distinguish them from the majority of the students worldwide. They will then be part of the prestigious circle of French speakers.

This French speaking community is also culturally dynamic with a network of contemporary thinkers from various disciplines: journalism, diplomacy and culture, as the coming Abu Dhabi Louvre museum demonstrates.

It is worth mentioning that 35% of students enrolled in this program come from the UAE, and one third of the total students have registered in the Licence in Business and Languages, and another third chose Licence in Law and Political Sciences for this academic year.

The university has welcomed on its FLE orientation day today another batch of students who are thrilled to go through the experience and start speaking French in a year time.
