Under the Patronage of Sheikh Nahyan and with Over 200 Participating Athletes

15Paris – Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (PSUAD) participated in the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games, held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, in which over 200 athletes from universities and corporations represented their individual and team sport of choice.

Prof. Eric Fouache, PSUAD Vice-Chancellor, noted that the participation in the such events always in line with the university’s core objectives and mission to serve the community. The tournament, which brings together athletes from the public and private sectors, is testament to good sportsmanship and healthy competition.

vHe said the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games were honored by the patronage of HE Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, whose directives seconded PSUAD’s keenness and determination to uphold the highest standards in all university events.

Fouache lauded the gracious sponsorship of HE Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan of sporting, cultural, and social events, and his support for PSUAD and all educational institutions aiming to provide the nation’s future professionals with well-rounded academic, cultural, social, and athletic training and encourage them to be worthy representatives of their country in global competitions and events. Indeed, such participations and close engagement with experts help students acquire a wealth of experience.

He underlined PSUAD’s interest in involving students in local, regional, and international events. PSUAD’s strategy foregrounds cultural, science, social, and athletic activities that help develop students’ skills and potentials. In today’s world, learning is not exclusive to the classroom and lecture hall; it is about hands-on engagement in multi-disciplinary projects and events to apply academic knowledge practically, by which students acquire new information and experiences and assess their performance.

Mr. Alexandre Blaise, Head of the PSUAD Athletics Department, observed that participating in the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games is in keeping with the university’s vision.

Mr. Blaise remarked that PSUAD offers students the chance to enjoy their favorite sports activities by providing access to state-of-the-art athletic facilities on campus and recruiting renowned experts to train students for local and international tournaments and competitions.

16He affirmed that sports have become a leading priority in the UAE and that the government’s policies foster university athletes as they constitute the Olympic core team representing the country abroad. Mr. Blaise stressed the need for the promotion of individual sports, calling all students to engage in the university sports scene.

PSUAD student Abdallah Kaisari said that the Corporate Games celebrated the sportsmanship of participating teams. The tournament revealed the level of each team and their strongest players. Students enjoyed playing sports in an event that places a high premium on healthy competition away from the pressure to win. It drew a huge turnout of sports enthusiasts from the PSUAD student body.Kaisari praised the games’ fair-minded referees and thanked all those who helped make the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games a fun, clean sporting event.
