External Library Membership - Access one of the largest French-language literature collections in the Gulf Region

Welcome!

The Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi Library opens its doors to external members, offering access to an exceptional collection of literature from around the world primarily in French, with selections in English, German, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, and many other languages.

Our collection also includes a curated selection for young readers aged 12 and above, allowing adult members to borrow books for their children or dependents.

Membership Period: Valid from 1 January to 31 December each year
Renewable annually with 1-week grace period after expiry
Refundable Deposit: AED 1,000

The deposit serves as caution for unreturned materials beyond the due date, overdue fines or loss of resources by the borrower and is fully refundable upon membership cancellation (subject to no outstanding dues)

Requirements

Emirates ID (UAE Nationals)

Copy of valid Emirates ID

Resident Visa (Expatriates)

Copy of Resident Visa that is valid for at least 6 months.

Passport-Size Photograph

Recent photo for your membership card

Refundable Deposit: AED 1,000

Fully refundable upon membership cancellation (subject to no outstanding dues). Payment link will be sent after application review.

How to Apply

Submit Application by completing the form and upload your documents (photograph and Emirates ID/visa)

Payment through the payment link for AED 1,000 refundable deposit

Collect your membership card within 5–7 working days after deposit confirmation

During Semester	Mon–Thu: 8AM – 10PM \| Fri: 8AM – 12PM \| Sun: 9AM – 5PM
During Semester Breaks	Mon–Thu: 9AM – 5PM \| Fri: 8AM – 12PM
Closures	UAE public holidays, Christmas Day, Easter Day, Bastille Day. Check SUAD Academic Calendar

Overdue Items & Fees

Reminder System: Automatic notices are sent 2 days before due date, and at 1, 7, and 30 days overdue.

Campus Access

Access granted during library working hours only
Security will verify your membership card at entry
Punch-in/punch-out required at the reference desk (ground floor)
Parking available on first-come basis in non-designated lots
Membership grants access to library facility and campus restaurants only

Cancellation & Deposit Refund

Submit cancellation request online or in person
All borrowed items must be returned with no outstanding dues
Refund processed via bank transfer within 10 working days
AED 131.25 charge applies for non-UAE bank accounts
Unclaimed deposits forfeited after 1 year from membership expiry
