This event will bring together leading scholars and practitioners from the Global South to reflect on ten years of the Paris Agreement in a post-COP30 context and in the lead-up to COP31. It will examine how COP30 outcomes inform the discussions of COP31.
The event builds on the COP-Fire Chat series initiated and hosted by the Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law (APCEL) at the National University of Singapore. These annual discussions, held online from COP26 onwards, with one in-person edition in Singapore in 2025, have become a recognized platform for Global South perspectives on COP outcomes.
This conference aims to bring the COP-Fire Chat format into a fully in-person event at SUAD, creating space for exchange, comparative perspectives, and collaboration in the lead-up to COP31.
