Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi student and Emirati musician Dana Al Katheeri recently shared her journey with students at Ain Al Fayedah Charter School, offering an inspiring example of how cultural identity, artistic excellence and academic ambition can come together to create meaningful impact.
An Archival Studies researcher at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, Dana is passionate about preserving the UAE’s musical heritage while creating new compositions inspired by the nation’s history and cultural legacy. Her commitment to the arts has earned her recognition on both national and international platforms. A graduate of the Ministry of Education’s Masterpieces Programme, she received the Gulf Capital–ADMAF Creativity Award in 2024 and performed as part of the UAE Day celebrations at Expo 2025 Osaka.
During her encounter with students, Dana spoke about her personal journey, creative experiences and the importance of pursuing knowledge while remaining connected to one’s heritage and identity. Her story demonstrated that artistic excellence can go hand in hand with Emirati identity, national values and international achievement.
For the students of Ain Al Fayedah Charter School, meeting a young Emirati musician who is pursuing her ambitions on the international stage made these possibilities tangible. Dana encouraged them to approach their own aspirations with confidence, creativity and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Her visit also highlighted the importance of representation and mentorship in empowering young people. When students encounter role models who reflect their cultural background and aspirations, they can gain greater confidence in their own potential and develop a stronger sense of what they can achieve.
