An exceptional Sorbonne Talking Series by renowned Archaeologist and Professor Nicolas Grimal

Since the 19th century, the French state has encouraged archaeological research outside France, being finally the principal developer of them by the end of the 19th century. At the end of the Second World War, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the impulse of General de Gaulle and Henri Seyrig, developed a department especially devoted to archaeology. For the past 70 years, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has worked towards to ensure the excellence and sustainability of archaeological research, and constantly supported it worldwide. Two years ago, in 2016, the international meeting in Abu Dhabi highlighted the regional needs. The purpose of this talk is to describe the network and its possible interaction with the countries concerned.
