Register for the sixth session of the seminar series in Records Management & Archival Sciences titled Archives and Climate Change

Abstract
Climate change has become topical over the past few years and manifests itself in many ways, including rising sea levels and severe weather conditions among others. Scientists, researchers, meteorologists, farmers, and many other stakeholders are relying on historical data contained in archives to understand climate trends across the globe. Although there is scantly literature on the contribution of archives to research on climate change, the dependance on archives to understand our histories and predict the future is well acknowledged. The focus of this seminar is to cultivate discussions on how archives support activities against meant to combat climate change.

Deeply invested in research contributions in the field of water resources engineering, sustainability, location intelligence, remote sensing, image processing, GIS, geography and planning, statistical data analysis, and modelling. She is, presently, an assistant professor in the Department of Geography and Planning at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. Dr. Ben-Romdhane was one of the four first researchers to join the Ocean Colour team of the newly established Earth Observation and Environmental Remote Sensing Lab at Masdar Institute. She received her PhD at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in collaboration with Massachussetts Institute of Technology in 2016. She conducted her master’s studies at the Ocean Research Institute of the University of Tokyo, Japan, and received her M.Sc. degree in 2009. Before that, she received her Bachelor of Engineering in Marine Sciences in 2005 from the National Agronomic Institute of Tunisia. Before joining Masdar Institute, she worked as a project manager, hydrographic surveyor, data processing, and data quality specialist at the Military Survey Department / Bayanat AI from 2009 to 2012, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Her aspirations are to help protect the ocean and marine environments through the establishment of adaptive management plans highlighting the role of science to provide a basis for robust decision-making against urgent problems and long-term management outcomes.
