Abu Dhabi Stochastics Day

7 December, 2022

Since its launch in September 2021, the Abu Dhabi Stochastics Seminar, a weekly series jointly organized and funded by Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and NYU Abu Dhabi, has been very successful, attracting top scholars, worldwide, in the areas of Probability, Statistics and Machine Learning.

Such success encouraged the organizers to enrich the series by launching the Abu Dhabi Stochastics Day, a one-day workshop to be held at the end of each semester.

The first edition of this workshop was held in Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi on December 7th 2022. Thanks, essentially, to Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi’s support, it was possible to invite three internationally recognised scholars to deliver a seminar, establishing the scientific event at a very high level.

Prof. Cécile Durot  (Université de Paris Nanterre) presented her recent work on Unlinked Monotone Regression, Prof. Kalle Kytölä (Aalto University, Finland) presented novel results he and his co-authors obtained on Boundary Correlations in Loop Erased Random Walks and Uniform Spanning Trees, while Prof. Laurent Ménard presented recent collective work he coordinated on Spin Clusters in Random Triangulations coupled with Ising Model.

The event was very successful and a number of interesting interactions/took place between the participants, so that promising scientific collaborations are soon to be initiated.
