Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and The National Library and Archives celebrate the graduation ceremony of the 9th cohort of the Professional Certificate in Archives and Records Management

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and The National Library and Archives celebrated the graduation of the ninth cohort of students from the Professional Certificate in Archives and Records Management held at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi’s campus.

The celebration of this graduation ceremony is the outcome of the fruitful collaboration between Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, and the National Archives. This included the successful graduation of 16 professionals from various sectors, including the UAE Ministry of Defence, Emirates News Agency, The National Library and Archives, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). These graduates are well-positioned to make an impact in their respective fields and contribute to the development of the region.

During his speech His Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director-General of the NLA said: “It is beautiful that the graduation of the ninth cohort of students from the Professional Certificate in Archives and Records Management coincides with National Reading Month, which we celebrate in the National Library and Archives with hundreds of events. On this occasion, I am pleased to extend my warmest congratulations to all the graduands”. “I hope that the participants can use the knowledge gained from their studies in their field of work. I thank the teaching staff and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi for their efforts in offering this certificate to enhance the archiving and documentation skills of the employees. This certificate preserves its value and prestige, staying up to date with technical requirements, standards, and expectations, making it highly valued within the knowledge economy”. He added.

Dr Laurence Renault, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, congratulated the graduates for their remarkable success in completing their Professional Certificate in Archives and Records Management programme. She expressed her gratitude to the faculty for providing high-quality education. She continued: “This Graduation ceremony symbolises the strong bond between Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and The National Library and Archives. We are always keen in providing exceptional programmes that strive to better equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their respective careers and to cater for the dynamic market needs”.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Majed Al Khemeiri Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administrative Affairs of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, Hamad Al Mutairi, the director of the Archives Department at the National Archives of the UAE, and a number of senior officials and academics.
