French Evening Classes

French Evening Courses by Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi offer working professionals a unique opportunity to discover the French language, spoken on all five continents. Classes take place during the evening from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday providing flexibility to students who work full-time, and combine traditional and distance learning through interactive and dynamic teaching methods.

Our evening course program is delivered over two years. Semester 1 begins by the beginning of October/end of September and semester 2 by the end of January.

Two levels are offered, both starting in September 30th.

Beginner level

  • No previous experience required
  • 9 hours per week over 3 evenings covering General French, Writing, Speaking, Listening
  • Additional cultural activities 1 evening per month
  • Students are expected, at the end of this year, to sit the internationally-recognized, and valid-for-life, DELF A2 exams in May

Intermediate level

  • DELF A2 certificate required for admission/or placement test
  • 9 hours per week over 3 evenings covering General French, Writing, Speaking, Listening
  • Additional cultural activities 1 evening per month
  • Students are expected, at the end of this year, to sit the Sorbonne University University Diploma (DU) in French as a Foreign Language, successful completion of which is sufficient for acceptance into a Licence (Bachelor) Program at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and provided all other criteria for the individual program are met.

Students who join in beginner level are expected to achieve their DU (University Diploma) after 2 years. Students joining directly at intermediate level are expected to sit the DU exams after 1 year.

For those FLE students, who has already some knowledge in French Language, and would prefer to start their FLE course in the intermediate level group, they need to pass a placement test.

For the beginners, there is no need to sit for a test, as they will start slowly in a beginner level group.

High School Diploma with a minimum average of 80% (or equivalent)
