French Evening Classes FAQs

    1. What is the aim of the Evening classes?

French Evening Classes by Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi offer working professionals a unique opportunity to discover the French language and culture. It is also an opportunity to become more competitive on the job market by mastering a new language. Students learn in small working groups, which allows them to interact in French and socialize in a supportive environment and benefit from personalized feedback from their tutor.

    1. Which students are concerned by the Evening classes?

The Evening classes are designed for working professional or those with family obligations who cannot attend the Morning classes. It is less intensive than the morning classes and consists of 9 hours of class per week.

    1. How long does it take to get the University Diploma in Intensive French?

Evening class students are able to sit the University Diploma (DU) at the end of the second year.
Before being eligible to sit for the University Diploma, students have to sit the DELF A2 exams at the end of the first year.

    1. What can I do after I graduate from the University Diploma in Intensive French?

After the successful completion of the University diploma (DU) exams, students can be eligible to enrol in one of the university’s Bachelor programmes that are taught in French (provided all other criteria for the individual programme are met). Please note that the University Diploma (DU) does not allow to become a FLE teacher. A Master degree is required to teach French as a Foreign Language, such as the Master of Teaching French as a Foreign Language, available in the postgraduate programmes offering of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.

    1. When do Evening classes take place?

Evening classes take place during the week, from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm, 9 hours per week.

    1. When do Evening classes are scheduled during the year?

There is an intake for beginners in October and an intake for intermediate/advanced level in both October and January.

    1. Are evening classes offered online?

All evening classes take place on campus. Classes can be shifted online in some cases (Covid-19).

    1. How much is the tuition of the University Diploma? What are the payment plans & terms?

The tuition of the programme is AED 36,700 per year (including tuition and admin. fees)

    1. Are books included in the tuition fees?

Books are not included. Students are required to purchase their books. (Two handbooks and two exercise books for the first year, one handbook and one exercise book for the second year).
