Payment Terms:

Option 1:

Full Payment Upfront, due 7 calendar days prior to the start of semester.
Penalty of AED 500 will be applied after 5 calendar days against each payment default, which will result in student account to be kept on ‘Hold’*.

Option 2

Should a student choose this Option, installments should be applied through Sorbonne Space and ensure that Post Dated Cheque (issued from UAE banks only) or irrevocable bank standing order/eDDS must be provided for each installments above to be submitted upfront before start of semester. If not, student would have to follow option 1. Cheques that do not clear due to any issue will be charged additional AED 500 as returned cheque penalty along with ‘Hold’* after 5 calendar days of such return. Penalty of AED 500 will be applied after 5 calendar days against each payment default, which will result in student account to be kept on ‘Hold’*.

*‘Hold’ on the student’s account ceases access of the following:
  • Attending classes and using the facilities
  • Sitting for the final exam/s
  • Degree, transcripts, clearance/no objection letters, and grades

Following the student account kept on hold if the payment is not settled within next 5 calendar days the student can be put as withdrawal from the semester.

Administrative Fees for new students to be paid upon receiving the acceptance letter.

The Master in Applied Sociological Research is the only degree of its kind in the UAE, and is offered as a response to the changing needs of policy makers in government entities, state-owned enterprises, consultancy and market research sectors. It is designed for students to acquire the fundamental knowledge of how and why Sociological Research is instrumental in modern day society.

This programme mirrors the degree offered in Paris, which targets students and professionals who wish to improve their skills in sociological research methods and develop the expertise crucial to the future of the UAE and surrounding region. The objective of this degree is to teach the next generation of consultants to address pertinent challenges facing this region in regards to demography, urbanism, education, media, health and family.

Throughout the programme, students will learn to understand important social trends and their consecutive impact on society. An important component of this degree is the development of technical skills such as: creating qualitative surveys, conducting statistical analysis, applying IT for sociological research, and presenting of scientific reports and research results to the public. Students will explore how to establish reliable statistics by using groundbreaking tools and technology and learn about the relationships between government agencies and the private sector, and how these relationships positively benefit society.

This globally recognised degree opens the doors to further study, as well as successful international careers in sociological research.

Employment opportunities within the government and private consultancies are lucrative and competitive as graduates with a specialisation in Applied Sociological Research are highly sought after. Graduates will have several enriching career options in the government sector, local and regional planning covering education, public health, population and demographics, crime prevention and law enforcement, urban planning and waste management. Job prospects in research include working for national statistics authorities, polling agencies, academic research and various government-funded researches in significant subjects.

  • Bachelor in a relevant field with a CGPA of 3 out of 4 or equivalent.
    Candidates with a GPA between 2.5 and 2.99 (or equivalent scores as per the equivalency table) may be conditionally admitted under probation during the first semester. The student will be authorized to continue in the program only if they secure an average of at least 12 out of 20 which is obtained by the end of the first semester. The decision is based on academic performance and will be made official after the completion of the first semester
    or Bachelor with minimum of 2nd class honours
    or Bachelor with an average of 12 out of 20
    • Bachelor students with a GPA below 3 may be admitted on the ground of their professional and/or personal experience, in case they are granted a VAPP by SU’s or UP’s VAPP commission
  • IELTS certificate with minimum overall band of 6.0 with a validity of 2 years or TOEFL certificate with minimum score of 79 (or equivalent) with a validity of 2 years or Minimum EmSAT English score of 1400 with a validity of 18 months or, Native English speaker who completed 3 full years in an English-medium institution within a maximum period of 3 years

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an interview to assess the candidate’s motivation, career expectations and relevant professional experience in the degree area.

Applicants who earned their undergraduate degrees from universities outside the UAE must present a Certificate of Equivalency for their graduation certificates from the UAE Ministry of Education. Applicants, who are holders of undergraduate degrees issued by a licensed higher education institution in the UAE, are required to submit a copy of their degrees attested by the UAE Ministry of Education. Scholarships*

25% academic excellence scholarship

New joiners are eligible to 25% scholarship on tuition starting from the 1st semester. To be eligible, applicants are required to meet one of the below criteria:

  • Bachelor CGPA average of 3.6/4.0 and above, or equivalent
  • Bachelor with Final Average of 15/20 above
  • Bachelor with first class honors
  • Candidates graduating as the top of class, despite the average

A minimum average of 14/20 is required to maintain the scholarship for the following semesters.

For programmes taught in English: an English Proficiency level with a minimum of 7.0 for IELTS or 94 for TOELF IB

Preferential rates

20% Alumni preferential rate

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi alumni are eligible to a 20% waiver on tuition fee.

25% preferential rate upon enrolment on a second master’s degree

Applicants holding a master degree from SUAD and enrolling for a second master degree at SUAD are entitled to a 25% waiver on tuition.
