Join us for the webinar “Archives and Records Management in Artificial Intelligence,” which is being held in celebration of International Archives Day. During this one-hour webinar, attendees will delve into the escalating significance of digital archives and records management amidst the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence. Key themes will encompass the utilization of technology to enhance archival and records management procedures, adept management, preservation, and security of data, and the utilization of data to amplify institutional efficacy. Additionally, the event will facilitate discussions regarding the forthcoming Professional Certificate in Archives and Record Management, scheduled to take place at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi in September 2024. Whether participants are professionals in archival science, records management, technology, or any other related domain, this seminar promises valuable insights into the future of archives and the pivotal role played by AI.

About the speakers

Hatem
Mr. Hatem Younis is a highly accomplished Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Expert and Project Manager with over 40 years of distinguished experience in IT. Currently, he leads strategic ECM initiatives at the UAE National Library and Archives (NLA), where he is responsible for shaping IT strategy, overseeing government-to-government (G2G) projects, and guiding leadership through impactful lectures. Previously, he served as the General Manager at Delta-AIT, managing complex ECM and Oracle ERP projects while pioneering innovative methodologies.
His expansive career also includes key roles at Oratech/Raya, where he managed large-scale ECM implementations, and OHI Telecommunications, where he specialized in . Mr. Hatem Younis has successfully executed strategic IT transformation studies and implemented comprehensive systems across diverse sectors, from government to telecommunications. Holding an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Ain Shams University, Mr. Hatem Younis’ technical expertise spans Documentum, OpenText, Oracle RDBMS, and other leading platforms. He is renowned for his ability to design, develop, and implement efficient IT solutions that deliver measurable impact and foster digital transformation.

 

Ahmed
Mr. Ahmed Moudjeb is a distinguished archival expert, bringing over 30 years of professional experience to his role as an Archival Technical Expert at the UAE National Library and Archives. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in library and Documentation Science. Throughout his career, he has excelled in designing and implementing comprehensive document and records management systems, shaping archival policies, and leading national and international projects.
His notable accomplishments include transforming the archive management systems of Jeddah Municipality (Saudi Arabia), acquiring key historical materials from Dar Al-Sayyad Publishing (Lebanon), and developing crucial legislative and technical frameworks that underpin the UAE’s archival infrastructure.
Since 2019, Mr. Ahmed Moudjeb has shared his expertise as a part time faculty member at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, specializing in records management and archival science. An accomplished author and speaker, he is widely recognized for his book written in French “Establishing an Administrative Document Management System: A Case Study of the Wilaya of Algiers.”, his contributions to international conferences, and his commitment to training archival professionals.

 

Dr Proscovia
Dr Proscovia Svärd is an Associate Professor at the Department of History, Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi. She was before Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media, Department of Information systems and Technology, Forum for Digitalization, Mid Sweden University. She is also a Research Fellow at the Department of Information Science, University of South Africa (Unisa) in Pretoria and she carried out her Post-doctoral Research at the School of Interdisciplinary Research and Postgraduate Studies, University of South Africa, between 2016-2017. She completed her PhD at the University of Amsterdam. She has a Licentiate Degree in Data and Systems Sciences, BA and MA in Archives and Information Science from Mid Sweden University, Sweden and a BSc in Media and Information Science from Uppsala University, Sweden. Her research interests include; enterprise content management, records management, information culture, e-government development, public sector information (PSI) and Open Data, long-term preservation of digital information, truth and reconciliation commissions and their documentation processes, the role of archives in enhancing accountability and transparency in government institutions, information access and the link to democracy and development and New Public Management and its impact on the management of government information. She is the author of a book entitled “Enterprise Content Management, Records Management and Information Culture Amidst e-Government Development”.

 

Soufiane
Dr Soufiane Mohammed Bouharrat is a technical expert at the National Library and Archives, holding a master’s and a doctorate in library, documentation, and archival sciences. He has 35 years of professional experience in document and archive management. He has contributed to the development of document and archive systems by drafting legal and regulatory texts and establishing strategies, policies, and technical procedures. He has also implemented numerous projects in this field for various ministries and governmental and private institutions both within the country and abroad.

Dr. Bouharrat has worked as an associate professor of archival science and document management at Algiers University for nearly 10 years and as an associate researcher at the Center for Research in Social and Cultural Anthropology in Oran (Algeria). He has contributed to the establishment of academic programs for archival science at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, including the preparation of professional certificate program, bachelor’s degree, and master’s degree.

He has numerous scientific contributions in the form of lectures at international and national conferences and scientific articles.
