Two recent publications by Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi faculty members, Prof. Tarik Meziane and Dr. Forget Chaterera Zambuko, have been featured as part of the Abu Dhabi Environmental Research Network (ADERN) Highlights series. These studies highlight the university’s growing contribution to environmental research, marine science, and sustainability-driven innovation in the UAE and beyond.
SUAD’s Prof. Tarik Meziane Explores Mussels as Bioindicators of Coastal Pollution
A study by Prof. Tarik Meziane, researcher at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi’s Ocean Institute and Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development, investigates the brown mussel (Perna perna) as a bioindicator of eutrophication in tropical coastal ecosystems. Conducted along Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro coast, the research demonstrates how biochemical and morphological responses in mussels can effectively reflect varying levels of coastal nutrient pollution. The findings highlight the species’ strong potential as a sensitive tool for assessing ecosystem health.

SUAD’s Dr. Forget Zambuko Examines Sustainability in UAE Digital Records Management
In another publication, Dr. Forget Chaterera Zambuko, Assistant Professor at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, explores environmental sustainability in the UAE’s digital records management landscape. Published in MDPI, the study analyses national strategies supporting green digital transformation, including energy-efficient data centres and paperless systems. It also highlights the need for stronger integration of sustainability principles within information management frameworks.
