Sciences and Engineering
The Sciences and Engineering Department counts four full-time faculty members in Physics, and two in mathematics. Their research fields cover plasma physics, condensed matter with liquid crystals, ceramics, ferroelectric materials, nanoparticles (experimental and numerical simulations), microelectronics with MEMS and photovoltaic systems, and probability and statistics in mathematics. With strong connections to the local community, the Sciences and Engineering Department participates in the Think Science Fair and the Abu Dhabi Science Festival.
Outgoing collaborations include NYUAD, the UAE Space Agency, Masdar Campus, the FANR, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and other companies and institutions that foster the student’s exposure to real-world expectations and interests.
The Department offers a Foundation year in Sciences, taught in English, designed to equip students with all the skills required to succeed at the university level, and to be successful in any undergraduate programme in sciences.
