Loraine Balen – Brazilian pianist, born in Caxias do Sul – RS – Brazil. Received her bachelor´s degree in Piano from the Arts College of University – UPF – RS, studying under Irene Wagner Teixeira. Post-graduate course at Santa Maria Federal University under Swiss teacher Sebastian Benda. She also studied under Miguel Proença, Eduardo Hazan, Arnaldo Estrela and Magdalena Tagliaferro, who gave her the best interpreter title. She completed her piano studies in France and Italy. She has annually perfomed piano concerts in Europe, Asia, South America, and Central America, performing recitals beyond Brazil, in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay,  Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Austria, France, Hungary, Holand, China, Spain, Slovaquia, Ireland, and India, spreading knowledge of “Classical Brazilian Music” Her name is in the Brazilian Woman Encyclopedia. Poet, with two poetry books published. Loraine Balen is considered one of the most famous Brazilian pianists nowadays, a specialist in Brazilian Classical Music, and she is applauded by the international review for her interpretation of Villa-Lobos. She has received the ” Cultural International Prize – 2006 ” in Italy.  She has recorded a CDs. entitled “Brazilian Music”.
