Join us for an exceptional evening of music titled “From Abu Dhabi to Paris: A Symphony of Voices and Keys.” This concert will showcase the enchanting performance of a renowned Emirati opera singer Fatima Alhashmi, whose mesmerizing voice will breathe new life into the timeless elegance of French opera.

Accompanying her will be the distinguished French pianist Marie Sontag, adding a layer of sophistication and artistry to the evening. Together, they will offer a unique and transcendent experience that bridges Emirati and French musical traditions.

About the Artists

Fatima Alhashmi
Fatima Alhashmi was raised in an artistic family who are mostly musicians and singers. She started taking piano classes at a young age and was always interested in Western classical music. As a pianist, she got a licentiate degree in piano performance from Trinity College of London and had an experience of teaching the piano for 4 years. Fatima started to self-learn opera singing and get private classes for 4 years, and had the chance to take master classes with: Kristine Opolais, Dunja Vejzovic, Deborah Voigt and Simon O’neil. In 2019, she got 2nd prize in 1st Barouch concerto competition and jurors special prize. Fatima performed with several orchestras like: G. Enescu Philharmonic conducted by Horia Andreescu, Belarusian State Chamber orchestra conducted by Evgeny Bushkov and Mahler Youth Orchestra. Represented UAE in diplomatic and cultural events around the world like Italy, France, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Austria, Poland, Russia, and more.

Marie Sontag
Marie Sontag is a French musician of Occitan origin who has been passionate about the keyboard from an early age. She graduated from the Municipal Music School of Les Sables-d’Olonne in 1999 and the Music Conservatory of La Roche-Sur-Yon in 2006, with the piano being her primary instrument.
In addition to the piano, Marie explores various string instruments and participates in several musical ensembles. Her performances have taken her from music schools in Spain to the Caribbean Islands and across western France to Brittany. Since moving to Abu Dhabi in 2013, she has dedicated herself to teaching piano. For the past six years, she has taught at the Residence of the French Embassy and currently serves as a music coach at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.
In her spare time, Marie performs at occasional events, collaborating in a duet that features vocals, piano, bass, and guitar, showcasing diverse musical influences. She also engages in a chamber music duet with Fatima Alhashmi, focusing on a classical and romantic opera repertoire.
