Abstract
The conference describes the new era for women’s football, characterized by significant investment, commercialization, and popularity. The FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia was a historic success, surpassing revenue targets and drawing a global audience like never before, with over 2 billion viewers, marking the highest viewership since the first women’s world cup in 1991. The on-field excellence is captivating audiences and inspiring young girls and boys worldwide. This achievement is a testament to the enduring appeal and global impact of women’s football. It also highlights the significant progress made in promoting and showcasing women’s football, the impressive talent, dedication, and athleticism of women in the sport, despite all the challenges. FIFA is committed to investing in the future of the sport by expanding access to training facilities, development, and coaching for girls at all levels. Although challenges persist such as equal pay and equitable media representation and women in leadership positions, FIFA is determined to address them. Women’s football is more than just a sport; it’s a powerful force for positive change. It transcends barriers, unites communities, and empowers individuals from disadvantaged populations to reach their full potential. By nurturing the current momentum, overcoming existing hurdles, and capitalizing on emerging opportunities, we can collectively propel the beautiful game to even greater heights. The future of women’s football is bright and holds immense potential to inspire, unite, and empower for generations to come.
