Register for the third session of the seminar series in Records Management & Archival Sciences titled International Audio-Visual Heritage Day

Abstract
This seminar will be a forum to reflect on the UAE audio-visual heritage. First, the audience have an opportunity to understand the nature of audio-visual collection preserved at the National Archives, the measures taken to facilitate access to the heritage and the technologies deployed to enhance its preservation. Subsequently, the second speaker will give an overview on management of audio-visual materials from a private sector perspective. In particular, the challenges that document storage companies face in preserving audio visual archives and the technologies that they are using to ensure its continued access. Lastly, participants will reflect on how the UAE public and private sector can collaborate to ensure the country’s national heritage is well safeguarded.

About the speakers

Mohan Krishnan is the General manager, of Records, and Information Services at the Data Direct Group. He boasts 22 years of experience in the Records & Information Management Industry in leading document storage companies such as Infor fort and Iron Mountain. Additionally, he has headed teams involved in Business Development, Business modelling, process management, and Digital transformation. He is a keen planner with expertise in managing entire business operations with a key focus on profitability by ensuring optimal utilization of available resources and infrastructure.

 

Ahmad Saeed Al Areef Al Dhaheri joined the National Library and Archives of the United Arab Emirates as a Senior Digital Marketing Employee (2015-2018). His responsibilities included managing digital marketing campaigns on the NLAUAE’s Instagram account @uaearchives, setting up social media accounts and strategies across various platforms – he was responsible for developing content and daily feeds for all channels. In addition, he supervised the in-house production team and third-party agencies for daily content and annual events. Al Dhaheri pursued his master’s degree in Art History and Museum Management at Paris-Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi (2017). In 2018, he joined the Archives department as an Archivist-Researcher in the audio and audio-visual collection under the presidential archives division which his practice included digitizing, transcribing, indexing, and storing audio and audio-visual content. Al Dhaheri also provides multiple organizations, projects, and researchers the requests for archival material. Ahmed is akin to his role as an art historian/multidisciplinary artist, which reflects his desire to safeguard his culture, and heritage and enable it to flourish.
