Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi celebrates the 46th UAE National Day

As part of the ‘Spirit of the Union’ theme, Sorbonne Abu Dhabi celebrated the 46th UAE National Day. On this occasion, the university organized a number of activities and events that reflect the theme’s principles. The university’s management along with the students, faculty and employees attended this event.

The National Day celebrations started with the National anthem and later on the traditional musical bands played national and traditional songs. The audience interacted with the music by performing folk dances like the Yola and Aarda.

The ceremony included a variety of activities, most notably the biography of the success stories of Zayed’s children and national songs composed and distributed by Emirati artist Iman Al-Hashemi, as well as other activities such as henna painting, traditional handicrafts, storytelling and traditional buffet.

The National Day celebrations at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi was marked by a popular and traditional theme and included a number of activities and events such as folkloric dances by the Mazyood band in the presence of the artist Saeed Al Shehhi Al Mazyood. A photography exhibition by a number of Emirati artists was launched in collaboration with La Parole Gallery.

Prof. Eric Fouache, Vice-Chancellor at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi said: “On this occasion, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and to the rulers of the Emirates; and to all Emirati people and residents”.

Prof. Fouache added: “This special day in the journey of the UAE reflects its unity, strength and determination to prepare talented and creative generations on various levels and achieve global milestones. Our annual participation in the national day highlights our commitment to continuously support the UAE vision and plans, as well as our keenness to promote the spirit of belonging in the hearts of our students and the passion to serve the UAE”.
