Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi hosted “AlReyada Energy Seminar”
6 July, 2022Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi hosted AlReyada Energy Seminar a 4 day training programme organized by TotalEnergies Foundation under the theme “Climate change and Energy transition”. The seminar took place from 4 to 7 July and was attended by 70 students from various universities including Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, Khalifa University, United Arab Emirates University, School 42, and Zayed University.
During the seminar, students learned about climate change, energy transition, and leadership through various lectures delivered by TotalEnergies experts, who are part of TotalEnergies Professeurs Associés (TPA), an association comprised of more than 280 distinguished member professors across multiple fields.
They had the opportunity to have external interventions such as an awareness session from Environment Abu Dhabi about the new regulations of single use plastic.
As well as Dr Haifa Ben-Romdhane, Assistant Professor in Geography and Urban Planning Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, who delivered an interactive session on“Science and Engineering for the Marine Environment” during the seminar.
To complement to their knowledge on climate change, the students visited Masdar City and MBZ University of Artificial Intelligence, met different experts and students who took them through different projects linked to sustainability and AI.
The seminar comes in line with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi’s keenness to support initiatives that highlight the importance of protecting the environment and addressing climate change.
It also gave students the chance to connect with experts in the Energy sector, exchange information, and gave a better understanding on topics linked to climate change.
The closing ceremony started with a speech delivered by Sylvie Foss, Head of The Career Centre Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, and was followed by Kevin Hannaford, General Manager of TotalEnergies E&P UAE Unconventional Gas and Herve Oberreiner, Jean Papee and Christian Gueritte, TPA Professors.
