Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi organises Open Bouldering Championship 2024

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Open Bouldering Championship 2024, the largest climbing competition in the Middle East. Held at the university’s Sports Hall, the event brought together an impressive 196 climbers from 39 countries, marking a significant increase in participation from the region.

The competition featured seven categories, showcasing the diversity and talent within the climbing community. In total, AED 100,000 in money and gift prizes were awarded to the top performers, with winners recognized in categories including men’s and women’s Open, Middle East Female and Male, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi students and staff, Youth (14-17 years old), Kids (10-13 years old), Male and Female People of Determination Category, and Veterans.

Alexandre Blaise, Head of Student Experience Division, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, commented: “At SUAD, we are committed to providing a unique and exciting student experience that fosters teamwork, camaraderie, and personal achievement. The event provided a platform for climbers to showcase their skills and push themselves to new heights, while also promoting a sense of community and shared passion. Our sports department is a hub for the sports industry and climber community.”
