Abstract:

In about thirty years, the literary panorama of the Arab peninsula has been profoundly transformed, and the symposium will examine the recent developments in the novel. It will analyze its current issues and its future orientations. It will also identify the specificities and the aesthetic convergences in a large corpus of literary works from different countries of the Peninsula. It aims to contribute to better knowledge and visibility of the novel in Arab Peninsula in international academic research that has devoted only a limited place to the production of the region. For this reason, one of the fundamental purpose of the symposium is to offer to researchers from different backgrounds and locations, a place for meeting and exchanging about literary topics and to create synergies to develop literary studies on the novel of the peninsula. A second purpose is to develop analysis on the situation of the contemporary novel in Arabian Peninsula, by studying the esthetics choices that characterize it, and showing the challenges it is facing as well as the orientations that foreshadow its future.
