The Impact of COVID-19 on Economic Activities and Wealth Management

Date: Thursday 2 March 2023
Time: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Venue: Robert De Sorbon Amphitheatre, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi

Abstract

The impact of COVID-19 on economic activities, wealth management firms and investors has left questions about the short-term and long-term effects on investment profitability and economic growth.

This unexpected health crisis affected both investors and wealth management firms. Investors have seen direct impacts on their portfolios, given initial market drops and historic levels of volatility. Though significant measures have been implemented to limit volatility and uncertainty, there remain questions about the future effects of the health crisis.

Given the economic slowdown caused by the crisis, the success of the future investments will depend on their ability to consider the new needs of the market, especially in terms of digital transformation and technology platforms.

This conference will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on international trade and how this has affected the global economic growth. Also, how wealth management firms around the world have managed the health crisis, whether their digital transformation have been able to live up to client expectations, and what type of action they are planning to take in the future.
