Library FAQs
To borrow items from SUAD Library, take them to the information desk located in the Library main lobby or use one of the two self-check out stations located next to it. The SUAD ID is required for both.
To renew a book, please visit this link and sign in using your SUAD email and password. Click on checkouts under my account.
To hold a book that is out on loan, find the book you need in the Library catalog, you will find “Place Hold” button under Access options. You will be required to login with your SUAD email and password.
It depends on your user category, as follows:
Undergraduate students | 6 books for 14 days |
---|---|
Graduate students | 12 books for 1 month |
Full-time Faculty | 30 books for 1 semester |
Part-time Faculty | 6 books for 1 month |
Visiting Professors | 6 books for the duration of the mission |
Staff | 6 books for 1 month |
Library fines and fees must be paid online to the Finance Department. A payment form should be issued from the Library first to the Finance Department, who will inform you about the payment process.
You can recommend a book that we don’t have in our collection by filling out this form>. You will receive an email from the Library on the status of your request.
Reference materials including dictionaries and law codes are for building use only and cannot be checked out. The same applies for journals and magazines.
If you are an active member of the SUAD community (current student, faculty member, or staff), you can access our online resources off-campus using your SUAD email (i.e. xxxx.yyyy@sorbonne.ae) and password.
Most of our databases are searchable through a one search, a discovery service, using the search box on the main Library page, under the tab “Discover All”. Databases not included in this search are: Datastream, Lexis Nexis Gulf, Dalloz, Weslaw Gulf; these should be searched separately.

Printers/photocopiers/scanners are available at the Library on the Ground floor. You need to have your ID to be able to use the machines. It is important to mention that as per the UAE Federal Law no. 38 of 2021 regarding copyright and neighbouring rights, you are only allowed to photocopy or scan an article or part of a book for non-commercial purposes, or for educational purposes only.
If you are interested in studying in a group, we offer 4 group study rooms for your convenience. Please visit this link to book your room and your time slots. You need to leave your ID at the Information Desk in the main lobby at the Library, prior to the use of these rooms.
You can visit the eJournals/eBooks finder under “Resources” and search for the exact title. You can also browse alphabetically and by subject.

To search our eBooks databases by keyword, please visit our A-Z list of databases (please add the link) under “Resources” (Loay correct me if I am wrong) and filter the list by type: Books. Select your desired eBooks databases depending on your preference.
The Library keeps a lost and found box at the Information Desk in the main lobby at the Library.
Our Library serves mainly the SUAD community, but external researchers and visitors are welcome to come and use our resources on the Library premises. Please fill this form to submit your visit request.
